 Important Information for Nursery

Please remember to share special occasions, events and anything about your child's learning on Tapestry. We LOVE to see all of your home learning.

PE is on a Monday, please make sure your child comes to school in their appropriate clothing on this day.

Every term we will go on a seasonal walk to our local park. Look out for our photos on Instagram! We also spend time with our local community singing, dancing and story telling with the elderly residents at Argyle House. Throughout the year we explore our community with visits to the shops, post office and other areas of interest. We also invite our local community in, with visits from the fire brigade and our local PCSO.

KIRFS

Nursery KIRFS parent handouts

KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts) are designed to support the development of the mental skills that underpin much of the maths work in school. Instant recall facts help enormously with mental agility within maths lessons. When children move onto written calculations, knowing these facts can be very beneficial.

Each child will have a termly handout which sets out their KIRF and other facts which can be practiced at home. This means that the work at school can be supported at home. In Nursery there is not the requirement for these facts to be instantly recalled but they provide a focus for learning at home and in school.

Recommended Reading for Nursery

Our Classroom Library is available for children to change their library book throughout the week. During the Spring and Summer Term, children will visit the main school library once a week to enjoy a story.

Below is a link of recommended books for your child’s age group. Some of these books are ideal for adults to read to your children and others would be great for children to read themselves:
