SEND at St James

Inclusion is a really important part of life at St James and all children with additional needs are valued members of our school community.

At St James we work together with everyone involved in our school community to provide an education that is inclusive and will support all learners to flourish and reach their full potential.

Our SEND Information Report

The SEND Information Report below details the SEND offer from St James and includes links to the provision from the local authority but if you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our SENDCo, Mrs Hobbs on 01604 751475 / senco@stjames.pdet.org.uk, or catch her on the school gate each morning.

The PARC

The PARC (Pupil Assessment & Reintegration Centre) is a specialist Inclusion Base at St James that is funded and commissioned through the Local Authority. It offers a 16-week nurture provision for children from across West Northamptonshire Schools. The children have been identified through the Local Authority HARPS pathway as needing additional support . The children attending the provision do not have an EHCP and are dual registered with their home school for the duration of the placement.

Please note: access to the PARC is through the Local Authority's HARPS pathway and not directly through the school.

The Ark

At St James, for all children to thrive and reach their full potential in mind, body and spirit, we know that sometimes we need to provide a bespoke learning environment to support particular children. The Ark is an on-site Inclusion Base (support). It is an internal provision funded by the school for children already on roll at St James. It provides a highly differentiated and specifically adapted curriculum to meet the learning needs of our youngest children (EY/KS1) who have Communication and Interaction needs and/or have a diagnosis of ASD. Most children in the Ark have an EHCP already in place and have been identified by both parents and school as needing an alternative, specialised placement as they get older. The Ark supports these children while the necessary paperwork and assessments are completed and appropriate places found, including considering a transition back to mainstream. It provides the best possible education in a mainstream setting so that our children flourish, parents are supported and the best outcomes possible for the individual child are achieved.
