Important Information for Reception
PE Day is a Wednesday. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day.
Parents are often invited to stay and read with their children, watch a phonics input or learn about building fine motor control.
Your weekly Tapestry challenge will be uploaded on a Friday morning and we LOVE to see all of your home learning.
KIRFS
Reception KIRFs parent handouts
KIRFs (Key Instant Recall Facts) are designed to support the development of the mental skills that underpin much of the maths work in school. Instant recall facts help enormously with mental agility within maths lessons. When children move onto written calculations, knowing these facts can be very beneficial. Each child will have a termly handout which sets out their KIRF and other facts which can be practiced at home. This means that the work at school can be supported at home.
Recommended Reading for Reception
We expect children to read at home at least three times a week. We encourage children to read everything and anything, including books, comics, magazines, poetry, road signs, cereal boxes, recipes, newspapers, websites and even books they write themselves. All children's reading books are changed on a Wednesday (please ensure a note has been made in your child's reading journal!). Books are also changed throughout the week when needed or appropriate. Our Classroom Library is available for children to change their library book throughout the week. Children will visit the Library on a Thursday with their class teacher.
Below is a list of recommended books for your child’s age group. Some of these books are ideal for adults to read to your children and others would be great for children to read themselves. For more information about each of these books, click on:
