Pastoral Support
St James has a full time Pastoral Team who are very experienced in dealing with all aspects of family support and safeguarding. Sarah, Sam, Vicky and Rusma are available each day to work with children and their families.
The team are trained in the following interventions:
- Protective Behaviours
- Brick Therapy
- Drawing & Talking
- Hamish & Milo
- Roots of Empathy
One member of the team is a qualified adult counsellor and another an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant).
The Pastoral Team deliver programmes such as Roots of Empathy and Protective Behaviours to all the children to build resilience, empathy and an understanding of how to keep themselves safe.
These programmes complement the PSHE curriculum delivered through whole school Gatherings and class teaching.
Pastoral
As well as supporting the children, the Pastoral Team offer a range of services and support for families. This includes housing support, food parcels, help with uniform as well as a listening ear and, often, a hug and a cuppa.
