Safeguarding

Safeguarding at our school

Everyone at St James has a responsibility to keep children safe and to be alert at all times to their welfare and wellbeing. Any concerns about a child, however small, is reported through our MyConcern recording system to the Safeguarding Team.

The Safeguarding Team is:

  • Sarah Beach: Headteacher - Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Sarah Lord: Safeguarding and Pastoral Team Lead - Deputy DSL
  • Sam Robson-Gill: Pastoral Team - DDSL
  • Vicky Watson: Pastoral Team - DDSL
  • Alex Price: Deputy Headteacher - DDSL
  • Sharon Pace: Inclusion Lead - DDSL
  • Karen Hobbs: SENDCo - DDSL

You can contact any of the team by calling the school office on 01604 751475 or emailing office@stjames.pdet.org.uk

A copy of our Safeguarding Policy can be found on our policies page

At St James, we promote an ethos of 'professional curiosity' and believe that all children have a right to grow up and learn in a safe and secure environment. If we have any concerns about a child's safety we will usually speak to you as parents in the first instance. Often, the concerns that have been raised are explained. Occasionally, we may feel that further support is required by outside agencies and referrals may be made. This process enables us to protect children who are at risk even if the allegation proves unfounded.

What to do if you have a concern about a child or family

If you have any safeguarding concerns, please speak with one the safeguarding leads at school.

If it is an emergency and you think that a child may be in immediate danger, please contact the emergency services directly by calling 999.

Alternatively, Contact Northamptonshire Children's Trust Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on 0300 126 7000,  email: MASH@nctrust.co.uk or report a concern online

The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) deals with referrals from professionals and members of the public who may have concerns about a child’s welfare. It makes the process of dealing with referrals quicker and more effective by improving the way different services share information.
