PSHE
St James’ PSHE Curriculum is a cornerstone of our children’s personal development. The PSHE Association and Pol-Ed schemes of work are foundations for our curriculum, alongside our school values, whole school events and regular Gatherings. This ensures our children experience a broad and challenging curriculum which prepares them to be emotionally and academically prepared to keep themselves healthy, safe and regulated, ready to learn, to have positive relationships with others and to contribute to their local community. Online Safety content – underpinned by resources from the National Computing Curriculum – is delivered through PSHE and Computing to ensure children know how to keep themselves safe in an increasingly accessible world.
The school’s vision to prepare children in mind, body and spirit is at the heart of the wider PSHE curriculum. We know our children and families well so target our curriculum to their needs such as responding to local issues. We work with the Police and local charities to strengthen our offer in these areas. We want our children to leave St James with a self-confidence to be themselves in an increasingly challenging world with a drive to make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of others.
